Skip Hop Duo Diaper Bag

Skip Hop Duo 1

I had no idea what I was looking for when I set out to buy a diaper bag. It was just another item to tick off on my “buy before baby arrives” list. I actually ordered the Skip Hop Duo without even seeing it in person for two embarrassingly simple reasons: its very reasonable price point and its gender-neutral design, which meant my husband wouldn’t mind carrying it around when he was on diaper duty.

In hindsight, I realize what a silly way this is to select a bag that you will use every single day for the better part of two years. Thankfully, we lucked out and landed on a durable, functional diaper bag that’s lived up to all of our expectations.

The Duo isn’t a huge bag, but it’s always held everything I’ve needed it to. When Grayson was a newborn, it easily held a couple extra sleepers, a receiving blanket or two, diapers, wipes and an extra shirt for me. Now that he’s an active toddler, there’s still room for all the essentials, plus sippy cups, snacks, toys and a few other odds and ends.

Skip-Hop-Duo-2In addition to the bag’s main compartment, there a total of nine pockets and pouches, making it pretty easy to keep everything reasonably well organized.

Though the bag doesn’t zip closed (it uses magnetic closures for easier access), there are two zippered pockets that keep important items – like my wallet, phone, soothers and other small items that otherwise have a tendency to get lost – safe and secure.

The strap is adjustable and comes with a removable shoulder pad, but the best part are the patented shuttle clips, which make it super easy to attach and remove the bag from a stroller. I love having my diaper bag within hand’s reach instead of below in the stroller’s under-seat storage.

Skip-Hop-Duo-3All in all, and especially at this price point, the Skip Hop Duo is a well-made, functional bag that served us well.Skip-Hop-Duo-4
