Safety Advisory: Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seats with specific manufacturer dates

Chicco has issued a voluntary safety advisory on Chicco Keyfit 30 infant car seats purchased between 2013 and early 2018 with specific manufacturer dates listed below. Transport Canada testing found that the infant seat did not meet the dynamic requirements for chest acceleration of the Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations.

“Regulations set forth by Transport Canada require car seats to meet all compliance requirements when subjected to a dynamic test, including measures and limits for chest acceleration. In testing performed by Transport Canada, the infant car seat in question does not meet the dynamic test requirements which could increase the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Transport Canada and Elfe have no reported incidents related to excessive chest acceleration with the use of the KeyFit 30 Infant Child Restraint in Canada. The issue does not affect the KeyFit 30 in the United States due to differences in the harness configuration.”

SEATS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE OF THESE DATES ARE COMPLIANT AND ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS ADVISORY.

If you have this product in your possession and have registered your car seat, you will receive a letter from Chicco with instructions and information on how to obtain a free repair kit.

Non-registered owners or owners who have moved, should contact Elfe Juvenile Products by phone at 1-800-667-8184 or service@chicco.ca to obtain a free repair kit.

While waiting for the repair kit, please install your car seat using the UAS, lap only portion of vehicle seat or install without the base, to reduce the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

Please do not bring the affected product to Snuggle Bugz store locations as we are unable to provide you with a repair kit.
