Safe sleep with the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper

December 5, 2017

If you’re a new parent then I’m sure you’ve been warned about the sleepless nights you’ll have. We’ve had a few so far and I know that there are many more to come. With that said, it’s good to know that there are some things out there that can help you through those rough nights. For instance, the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper.

To be honest, we didn’t have our Bassinest when we got home from the hospital so we’ve actually tried two different sleep methods for Evie so far. For the first few weeks we used a bassinet that was much lower to the ground. Truthfully, she slept really well in it but it was a lot more work for me in the middle of the night. Our bed is very high so I’d have to lean over and reach around to try to find her soother in the dark. It was awkward and difficult in daylight so imagine my struggle in the night. I’m sure you can understand my excitement when I heard about the HALO Bassinest.  First of all, it fits beds from 22-34″ tall. No more leaning over and no more guessing where her soother (and mouth) were in the dark. Oh and did I mention there’s a night light!? Best thing ever.

I love being able to see Evie through the mesh right beside me and I don’t have to move or lean over the side of the bed to check on her. She’s right there and I can tend to her right away. I also love the 360 degree swivel. With the Bassinest I just gently push the it to the side to reclaim much needed floor space. The best part? It doesn’t make a sound when you move it so Evie stays sound asleep. Let me tell you about the ‘Soothing Centre’. It has saved us a few times already! There’s buttons for lullabies, nature and even womb sounds. We love it! I’m not kidding, my hubby and I play one on repeat that sounds like water running. It’s soothing for all of us and it definitely helps Evie fall asleep. The last resort for us is the vibration option. We’ve used it a couple times so far and it’s definitely nice to have but  it’s not something I want Evie to become too reliant on. I only say this because obviously her crib won’t vibrate when we eventually make that transition. It’s a great feature for when we’ve exhausted all of our options.

Safe sleep is so so so important. I love that the mesh sides are breathable for baby. It’s also extremely convenient for mom or dad to pick up baby because of the side wall. It gently pushes down just by using your forearms and then automatically returns to it’s upright position. This is fantastic for mothers who are recovering from a C Section. I already mentioned the 360 degree swivel so that it’s not a hazard when you’re trying to make your way to the washroom in the middle of the night. The night light helps with that too ;). Don’t forget wrap your baby in a HALO SleepSack for safe sleep too. Evie absolutely LOVES hers.

I went ahead and bought one in prep for our little girls arrival (I’m 30 weeks now). Nice to know you are happy with it. 🙂 I think it’s the safest option out there and I know the peace of mind alone will be worth it.
