Public Notice: Incorrect Handle Position on Label of 0209 Model UPPAbaby MESA Car Seats
February 21, 2018
As per Transport Canada’s website, they are informing the public of a non-compliance involving certain UPPAbaby MESA infant car seats with the following model numbers; 0209-JKE, 0209-DNY, 0209-GEO, 0209-PAS, 0209-LSY, manufactured between October 17, 2015 and March 21, 2017.
The affected infant car seats have an installation diagram label at the belt path that incorrectly shows the position of the carry handle when the car seat is installed in a vehicle. The carry handle must be in the forward “vehicle use” position when installed in a vehicle, not in the recline position, as shown on the incorrect product label. This label does not conform to the labelling requirements indicated in the Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations.
To date, there have been no reported cases of injuries related to the incorrect positioning of the carry handle.
There is only one product label with the incorrect diagram (see Figure 1, below).
The warnings on the seat and the two labels on the carrier fabric (on both sides of the seating surface) correctly explain how to position the carry handle (see Figures 1 and 2, below).
