Nursery Trends: Animal Heads

June 15, 2018

Are you struggling to decorate your nursery or play area? Not sure what exactly to put on the walls? I can help! The Fiona Walker Felt Heads from Nestled are fun, playful and adorable as wall decor. You can find some inspiration here. Not just for babies either. These would look incredible in a little girl or boys room. I’ve created three different looks to show you how you can easily change your room with a felt animal head.

Look 1

In this nursery I decided to scatter a few of the felt heads on the wall. I like hanging these above a crib because it fills the blank space and adds dimension to the room. By choosing a neutral foundation for the room – the crib, glider and crib sheet – we can play with colour in the accessories. I’ve chosen a grey, white and yellow palette for this space. These colours are soothing and sophisticated. If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know by now that I love to decorate with shoes. Baby shoes can add the perfect amount of colour and whimsy when on display. Add a baby blanket that goes with your decor (or two) and voila, you’ve pulled the space together. Last but not least, some practical and colourful storage. I like draping blankets over the recliner to add a bit of colour. You should avoid having these in the crib for safety reasons.

Look 2

Onto the Unicorn room. So cute right!?  I love how this felt head could go with any colour palette. For this room I decided to add some pink touches. I found the cutest rose gold moccasins to tie the room together. Like I said, practical and pretty decor right? Can’t go wrong with that. Plus, it was easier to convince my hubby to buy shoes than decor ha! Now a pretty pink blanket. I just LOVE this one from Little Unicorn. It’s beautiful and it feels amazing for baby. It’s easier to add pops of colour (and change it too) when you start off with a neutral palette. I’ve done that with the crib, glider and crib sheet in this room as well.  With that said,  you could even add a secondary colour of yellow or orange if you wanted to. I’ve decided to keep thing simple and pretty in this space.

Look 3

Who doesn’t love a baby elephant? This is the perfect addition to any nursery, bedroom or play area (for kids… unless you really want an elephant felt head in your room. I’m not judging). For this room I added some pops of blue. Again, I found these super cute navy moccasins. From there, I’ve added a few baby blankets. Trust me… you can never have to many. I love this striped blanket from Little Unicorn. You can add some colour and pattern with decor elements that are practical. For instance, the pints from Petite Pehr. I use one of these for Evie’s hair accessories. It’s super handy and looks adorable on her change table. I was able to add pops of colour because I went with a neutral crib, glider and crib sheet in this nursery. Try it for yourself!
